Warehouse Temperature Monitoring System
Companies in the Food & Beverage and Agriculture industries rely on our temperature monitoring, internet and phone accessibility, and email alarming capabilities to keep an eye on their valuable inventory.
Warehouse & Cold Chain Temperature Monitoring
Processing and storage at the industrial scale has a high impact on our society, from Food to Pharma. That's why our customers rely on ControlByWeb controllers as both redundant and primary warehouse temperature monitoring systems and control devices for warehouses, coolers, freezers, and throughout the cold chain. We ensure proper temperature and humidity for storage and transportation of important items like food, beverage, medicine, vaccines, and more.
Cold storage warehouses require tight temperature control with reliable systems and redundant alarms and control. We offer ideal solutions for warehouse temperature monitoring and cold chain temperature control.

Legacy Systems Lack Remote Visiblity
Installed control systems often lack remote monitoring or control features. Replacing the system with remote enabled control and sufficient logic is cost-prohibitive.
Equipment Failure Jeopardizes Inventory
Temperature controlled environments must stay operational to ensure a high quality, safe product. If temperatures fall out of spec, valuable inventory is often lost.
Pre-packaged "solutions" come with rigid installation requirements, communication protocols and sensor types, leaving control engineers and integrators boxed-in.
Perfect Drop-In Solution for Remote Access
ControlByWeb devices have remote monitoring and control baked into their DNA. They work on any web browser and our mobile app simplifies usability for end-users.
Early and Accurate Alarms
An unnecessary or false alarm is just as bad as no alarm. ControlByWeb devices alert operators to real problems while they still have time to react, saving very valuable inventory.
Our programmable I/O platform is inherently flexible and used for remote and local monitoring and control throughout the world with many different control systems.
How ControlByWeb® Works
Case Study: Eagle Eye Technologies LLC
Eagle Eye Technologies LLC is a systems integrator providing automation and controls to clients in industries such as Agriculture, Food & Beverage, Water & Wastewater, and more. They prefer our programmable I/O controllers for their warehouse temperature monitoring systems in a variety of environments, such as food manufacturing plants, cold storage warehouses, and even animal enclosures at the zoo.
One example of warehouse temperature monitoring an control is avocado ripening rooms. Avocados are picked before fully ripe to enable shipping to hungry customers throughout the world. Once picked, they're shipped and stored in temperature controlled environments to delay ripening and ensure freshness. The end customers, however, want ripe fruit. To satisfy both demands, avocado distributors use ripening rooms to prepare the fruit for the final trip to grocery store shelves.
A ripening room warms the avocados temporarily to stimulate ripening and then cools the fruit again to maintain a ripe state. This process takes about 24 hours and relies on fine-tuned temperature control. Each room can fit about $100,000 worth of avocados, so mistakes can be costly. Distributors require not only advanced controls to run their ripening process, but redundant monitoring and alarms to ensure success.
Eagle Eye Technologies chose ControlByWeb to provide redundant monitoring, remote alarms, and mobile phone access to current temperatures.
Our X-405 and X-406 modules are ideal for monitoring temperature and humidity in warehouses, walk-in freezers and coolers, ripening rooms, chill boxes, and more. These work perfectly for redundant temperature monitoring, alarms, and remote visibility. Our X-410 is ideal for moving from passive monitoring to active control. We're an ideal fit for any application where monitoring temperature and/or humidity is critical.
Six Reasons Why You Should Choose ControlByWeb®
Industrial-Grade Reliability Is Our First Priority
Scalable Solutions for any Industrial Application
Cost Effective, Self-Contained I/O Devices
Flexible Communications and Compatibility
Responsive Support and Thorough Documentation
Founded in 1999 and Manufactured in the USA
Cold Chain & Temperature Monitoring Kits
When temperature must be monitored and controlled, the X-410 is an ideal choice. It supports up to 16 1-wire temperature sensors, has 4 digital inputs for door monitors or other sensors, and has 4 relays for controlling coolers, heaters, fans, vents, and more.
For temperature monitoring on a bank of coolers, small rooms, or many points within the same large space, the X-405 is a great choice. It supports up to 16 1-wire temperature sensors with smart alarming functionality.
The X-406 is ideal for large temperature monitoring applications, with support for up to 64 1-wire temperature sensors. Logic-based alarm functions mean you can intelligently create alarms that your technicians can trust.
Product Comparison for Warehouse & Cold Chain Temperature Monitoring
Frequently Asked Questions
The short answer is it depends. Each warehouse is unique. Refrigerant systems differ. HVAC systems are custom built for each building based on the needs and budget at the time of installation. Ultimately, our role is to provide reliable monitoring and control hardware. To better answer how many sensors you need, it would be best to hire a consultant or engineering firm that can do a study.
Alternatively, since we provide such and affordable system, you can do your own study by installing sensors throughout to look for problem areas, temperature gradients, etc.
We do not specify a suggested calibration schedule. You may calibrate them on a regular basis according to your requirements.
The temperature range on most our temperature sensors is -67°F to 257°F (-55°C to 125°C). This is suitable for most temperature monitoring applications, includeing freezer and refrigerator applications.
Most ControlByWeb modules have an alarm delay function, which will send a temperature alarm if the value is above or below a specified value for a specific amount of time. A second method common in pharmaceutical and other applications would involve adding thermal mass to the temperature sensor, such as putting the sensor in a vial with non-toxic antifreeze.
Unlike other refrigerator or freezer monitoring systems, ControlByWeb modules use standard networking equipment and do not require an additional gateway device. A full kit will include the monitoring/control module, the sensor(s), the power supply, and relevant mounting accessories.
You do not need a cloud subscription, but you can certainly add our cloud to make monitoring easier. Our modules are built to be stand-alone devices with on-board logic. To enable remote access, you have two options: use port forwarding or purchase a cloud subscription. The ControlByWeb cloud is an optional add-on to make access easier, but you can still monitor your warehouse temperature remotely without it.
Multiple temperature and/or humidity sensors can be connected to most ControlByWeb devices that have a 1-Wire bus for temperature/humidity monitoring.
If you have a scenario where you need to extend a sensor's cable length, you can extend it using Cat5 cable. See our FAQ for more information.
Any 400 Series controller can act as a central device that can pull sensor data for other ControlByWeb devices on the network, or on other remote networks using a standard networking practice known as port forwarding. This means you can have many locations and consolidate your data into one or a few central devices for easier monitoring. This is ideal for C-stores, school districts, restaurant chains, and more.
