Simple I/O Platform for Security Applications

When owners, operators, and integrators need added functionality in their commercial security systems, they often turn to ControlByWeb. Rather than a security system provider, we offer a simple way to accomplish certain monitoring, control, and alarm functionality with our programmable I/O controllers.

Our simple device networking and flexible communications make us an ideal solution for simple task control which may be otherwise difficult.

Use Cases

While the possibilities are broad, we often help with such tasks as automatic door lock scheduling, lighting control, door status monitoring, gate control, IP camera rebooting, and more.

We're particularly well suited for these use cases due to our on-device interface and logic which has many features, such as scheduling, conditional tasks, timers, logging, programmable I/O, and BASIC scripting. So adding functionality without a security system, or to an existing security system, is simplified and inexpensive.

Alarms & Notifications

Inherent in our controllers is the ability to remotely monitor sensors and to send email and text alerts based on local events. Our I/O controllers with relays can also automatically control local alarms, such as sirens or lights.

Sensors or switches wired to inputs means you can remotely monitor door status, motion or occupancy, sound level, and more. You can also base alarms and notifications on any input status from digital or analog signals.

Peer-to-Peer Communication

Integrators and business owners have found our remote relay control especially useful in security applications. Our peer-to-peer device communication and our mobile app make it possible to open or close a relay based on input from either your phone, or from a second I/O device.

For example, you can push a button in a control room and lock a series of doors, or you can manually open or close gates from a distance. Control can be either manual, from a user input, or automatic based on scheduled or conditional tasks.

Automatic Rebooting

A very common need for security systems is IP camera rebooting. Network connectivity can freeze up, slow down, and cause small problems that require a simple reboot. Many of our I/O devices are capable of pinging other network devices to ensure they respond, and to reboot them automatically when they do not.

Frequently Asked Questions About Security Monitoring & Control

Our devices communicate using a few protocols including Modbus TCP/IP, SNMP, XML, J-SON, and more. You can usually find a way to communicate with your system, but it really depends on your system and the technical know-how you have available. Compatible communication protocols vary slightly by product, see product detail pages for more information.

No we do not. We offer controllers that react in programmable ways to various sensors and devices connected to inputs/outputs. While we offer door/window contact sensors, we do not offer motion sensors, door locks, keypads, or many other important equipment in a security system. We can be part of your system, but we do not offer a purpose-built security system.

We work best with dry-contact sensors such as motion sensors, door/window contact sensors, etc. We also work great with 4-20 mA and 0-10 VDC analog signals, as well as Modbus RS-485.

We are not certified for Life Safety Code applications. We can offer extra functionality that is not mandated by code, but we're not rated to be a primary part of a fire alarm system.

No. All of our relays are dry contact relays and you need to supply a voltage to the circuit for the relays to work.
