FAQ | Reset ControlByWeb device to factory defaults
Quick and easy reset of ControlByWeb devices to its factory default settings.
QUESTION: How do I reset my ControlByWeb device to factory defaults?
If you have forgotten the password or the IP address assigned to any ControlByWeb product, the device may be reset back to factory defaults. All settings will be reset during this procedure including the IP address and password. Please note that our modules are stable and should not need to be reset to factory defaults routinely.
To reset the device to factory defaults, use the following procedure as found in the product's users manual. Warning: All settings will revert to the original factory defaults.
STEP 1: Remove the DC power from the unit. This will also turn off the relay(s) and output(s).
STEP 2: Use a thin, non-conductive object, such as a toothpick, to press and hold the button located inside the small hole on the end of the unit (pictured below). When the object is inserted, a tactile feedback can be felt as the button is depressed. Only a gentle force is necessary to activate the button. The reset button is located about 1/4" (1/2 cm) inside the unit. CAUTION: DO NOT USE METAL OBJECTS FOR THIS FUNCTION.
STEP 3: While depressing the button, apply power and wait for about 10 to 20 seconds before releasing the button. The LINK and ACT lights may blink in unison depending on the module.
STEP 4: All settings will revert to the original factory defaults. The default IP address is now 192.168.1.2 along with the default username, "admin" and the default password, "webrelay" (all lower case).
